Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, will be the special guest of the LUG event, and, though not designated as a speaker, Sir Tim plans to attend some of the presentations and we should expect that he may engage in discussion with panelists and delegates.  What a tweet!

Ron Nixon works for the New York Times as a reporter in Africa. Recently he launched a website called Ujuma Project. The aim of Ujima is to make USAID government spending more transparent.

Mr Solomon King

Solomon King is the director of Nodesix and during the recent riots in Kampala was one of the key online reporters on twitter. He will be talking on the impact of civil journalism on society and the feedback on his reporting.

Mr Paul Asimwe

Mr Paul Asimwe is partner at Sipi Law Associates. He specialises in Intellectual Property law. Mr Asimwe's presentation will reflect on the changes the Internet will bring to Uganda while more and more people get online.

Mr Paul Bagyenda

Mr. Bagyenda is one of the main Open Source business people in Uganda. His company, Digital Solutions, maintains and contributes to several open source projects. As a result of this, Digital Solutions has found clients all over the globe.
Mr. Bagyenda will speak about the advantages the Internet has brought for his business model, the challenges of working globally and the opportunities the Internet will bring to our corner of the world.

Mr Milton Aineruhanga

Mr Aineruhanga is Senior Program Officer at WOUGNET, the Women of Uganda Network.

WOUGNET has a long history of using the internet in various different ways. So much history that it would be interesting to hear you talk about what the development is in the way people are using the internet. Is there a shift to web 2.0, besides connectivity, are there obstacles in adoption (beside the obvious and rapidly improving connectivity issue) and how can we change the web so it becomes more useful for people in the field that are now coming online?

Mr Roscoe Nsubuga

Mr Nsubuga is the MD of Mapswitch Uganda. Mapswitch intends to provide digital identification to 2 million Ugandans in the next few years. This will greatly influence the way Uganda will do business, provide health & insurance etc.

Mr Alex Okello

Mr. Okello is 25 years old, he resides in Barr sub-county, Lira district, Northern Uganda. After the devastations of the conflict he has become a community volunteer training youth, children, sub-county officials, health workers, teachers, etc. in using computers and the internet. Using the internet has brought a lot of changes in the entire community.

Mr Paul Ssengooba

Mr Ssengooba is Applab Analyst, Application Laboratory Uganda a project under  Grameen Foundation.
